Art lessons at Ambrosoli are an exciting opportunity for children to discover a variety of creative possibilities such as painting, drawing, collage, creating three-dimensional art and much more. The art lessons are often linked to the IPC units/topics being studied. The children are taught to express themselves freely knowing that their work will be valued for its individuality and creativity.

Music sessions are where the children learn how to play instruments, sing a variety of songs and listen to music from different eras and countries. Children compose music, accompany songs and learn how music can affect us. There are many special opportunities to celebrate music including class assemblies, key stage performances, the annual talent show and the International Schools’ Music Festival each year.

In Computing we focus on problem solving, coding and skills needed for the 21st century as well as providing opportunities for creative work in programming and digital media. The three aspects of the computing curriculum covered are: computer science (CS), information technology (IT) and digital literacy (DL). At the core of the computing curriculum is computer science, in which children are taught the principles of information and computing, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding, they are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content.

French is taught in Ambrosoli as the chosen modern foreign language (MFL). It follows a framework incorporating the scheme of work provided by the English National Curriculum and teaching methods from Alliance Francaise. The main aim of teaching French is to develop children’s linguistic competence in a creative manner. A range of activities are planned to bring the language alive. These include games, songs, school trips, drama and art. The school has an annual day to promote and celebrate French language.

Swimming is the only individually specified sport to be included within the PE curriculum. At Ambrosoli, all children from Early Years through to Key Stage 2 take part in weekly swimming and water safety lessons. As well as gaining water confidence, they are taught to perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations, swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 meters and use a range of strokes effectively, for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
